Worker Killed After Soda Shop CO₂ Cylinder Blast 700 Metres Away in Vadodara

Vadodara: A tragic accident in Vadodara’s Laxmipura area claimed the life of a worker after a carbon dioxide cylinder used at a soda shop exploded and flew nearly 700–800 metres before striking workers at a residential society.

According to ACP C.B. Solanki, cleaning work was underway at a fountain soda shop in the Containers Park food zone under Laxmipura police station limits at around 12.30 pm. During the process, a carbon dioxide cylinder used for making fountain soda was left outside in the open amid intense heat. Police said the cylinder overheated and exploded with a powerful blast.

The impact was so severe that the cylinder was hurled through the air and landed in B46 Shrikunj Greens Society. Two workers from Uttar Pradesh were carrying out welding work on the roof of house number B-46 when the flying debris struck them.

Mukesh Ramswaroop Giri (36) suffered serious chest injuries and died during treatment. Another worker, Dharmendra Giri, sustained minor injuries and was shifted for medical care.

Police have registered a case of accidental death at Laxmipura police station and launched further investigation into the incident. DeshGujarat
