May 22, 2026
Surat: The Surat district health department, along with Olpad police, has registered a case against two individuals for allegedly running medical establishments and practicing medicine without valid qualifications in Atodara village of Olpad taluka.
During a routine inspection conducted under the Clinical Establishment Act, officials found irregularities at Vansh Hospital and Shri Health Care Clinic near Atodara Chowkdi on the Olpad-Sayan Road.
According to officials, a joint team led by Olpad Taluka Health Officer Dr. Chirag K. Patel and Primary Health Centre Medical Officer Dr. Rajesh K. Gurjar conducted a surprise inspection at around 6:45 pm on May 20. The health department initiated an inquiry under Sections 30–35 of the Gujarat Medical Practitioners Act, 1993.
During the inspection, the team reportedly sought medical degree certificates and qualification documents from the staff and individuals practicing at both establishments. However, officials said no valid medical qualification documents were produced during the inquiry.
The inspection reportedly revealed major irregularities at Vansh Hospital, where authorities alleged that hospital administrator R.S. Vaja had been operating the facility without appointing a qualified doctor. Officials said the hospital had allegedly been providing treatment despite the absence of a registered medical practitioner.
Similarly, Chandni Gupta, owner of Shri Health Care Clinic, was also allegedly found practicing as a doctor and operating the clinic without possessing the required medical qualifications or degree certificates, according to the health department.
Following suspicions regarding the activities, the health department sought assistance from Olpad police. PSI D.B. Desai and his team reached the spot and jointly questioned the operators along with health officials.
Based on the findings, police registered an FIR against the operators of both establishments for allegedly running medical facilities and practicing medicine illegally without valid qualifications, thereby compromising public health and safety.
Officials said the action is expected to send a strong message against illegal medical practices and bogus doctors operating across the district. DeshGujarat
