Amit Shah to Visit Gujarat

Ahmedabad: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be on a three-day visit to his home state of Gujarat from May 27 to May 29, during which he is scheduled to attend multiple official engagements and review key issues related to development and border security across the state.

On May 28, Shah is scheduled to chair a review meeting in Ahmedabad, where he will assess the progress of various urban development initiatives. The meeting, likely to be held at the Circuit House, will include presentations by senior officials on major infrastructure works, traffic management measures, and civic projects underway in the city.

Later the same day, Shah is expected to inaugurate the newly built Hi-Boys and Girls Hostel at the Shri Umiya Dham premises in Sola. Constructed at an estimated cost of ₹104 crore, the hostel has been developed for students of the Patidar community. The modern facility comprises 400 rooms and can accommodate nearly 1,600 students with residential and dining facilities.

The hostel is expected to serve not only as a residential facility but also as a centre for students’ academic and career development. Special institutional guidance and coaching arrangements have been made for aspirants preparing for prestigious competitive examinations such as UPSC and GPSC.

The campus also features world-class amenities, including a high-tech e-library for digital learning, a modern gymnasium, high-speed lifts, and spacious parking facilities. Alongside the inauguration, the online admission process for students will also be formally launched.

On May 29, Shah will travel to Bhuj and visit Harami Nala in the Sir Creek region, one of the most sensitive areas along the India–Pakistan border in Kutch. He is expected to inspect Border Security Force (BSF) facilities and review the security situation in the strategically important border region.

Shah will also hold discussions with senior officials and security agencies deployed in the area to assess the status of international border management and operational preparedness.

The Gujarat visit comes days after Shah announced plans to strengthen India’s eastern and western borders through “smart border” technology, including drones, radars, and advanced surveillance systems aimed at preventing infiltration and cross-border smuggling.

As part of a broader nationwide border review exercise, Shah is also expected to visit border regions in Rajasthan, Tripura, and West Bengal in the coming weeks. DeshGujarat
