Mehsana: A serious food safety breach has surfaced in Mehsana after officials seized and destroyed over two tonnes of decayed and worm-infested mangoes that were allegedly being processed for juice production.
The action was carried out by the Mehsana Food and Drug Department at a warehouse belonging to Patidar Ras Kendra, a wholesale mango supplier situated in Mahadev Industrial Park near Nugar village. The facility was reportedly engaged in the large-scale production of mango pulp and juice for sale in the market.
Following a tip-off, Food Safety Officer V.J. Chaudhary and his team conducted a surprise inspection of the premises. During the raid, officials found substantial quantities of spoiled mangoes, many of them infested with worms. Authorities stated that the fruits were unfit for consumption and could pose health risks.

Officials seized and destroyed 2,025 kilograms of rotten mangoes at the site. Additionally, 230 grams of mango juice prepared from the stock was also discarded.
The finding has raised concerns over food safety and quality control, especially during the summer months when demand for mango-based products peaks. DeshGujarat
