Temperatures Rise Again Across Gujarat After Brief Respite, Soaring to 42.9°C

Ahmedabad: After a day of marginal relief from the heat, maximum temperatures across several parts of Gujarat rose again on Wednesday, with Rajkot emerging as the hottest city in the state at 42.9°C, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The renewed rise in temperatures indicates that hot weather conditions continue to persist in many inland regions despite isolated pre-monsoon showers over the past few days.

Rajkot recorded a maximum temperature of 42.9°C, which was 2.5°C above normal, while Amreli registered 41.7°C, also significantly above the seasonal average. Deesa crossed the 40°C mark with 40.7°C, followed by Ahmedabad at 40.2°C and Gandhinagar at 39.6°C.

Among the major cities, Vadodara recorded a maximum temperature of 38.2°C, while Bhavnagar and Bhuj registered 38.9°C and 39.5°C, respectively. Coastal areas remained relatively cooler, with Veraval and Diu (Union Territory) recording 33.6°C, while Surat registered 35.6°C.

Night temperatures also remained on the higher side in several locations. Minimum temperatures touched 29.4°C in Kandla, 29.3°C in Porbandar, 29.2°C in Naliya, and 29.1°C in Diu, indicating warm and humid conditions during the night.

Meanwhile, the state also received scattered rainfall on June 3, with Surendranagar district recording the highest precipitation. Sayla in Surendranagar topped the state with 59 mm of rainfall. Kadana in Mahisagar received 26 mm, followed by Hadad in Banaskantha with 21 mm, Santrampur in Mahisagar with 20 mm, and Godhra in Panchmahal with 13 mm.

Light rainfall was also reported from Dasada, Gadhada, Godhar, Wadhwan, Morwa Hadaf, Sanjeli, Fatepura, Deesa, Shehera, Chotila, Thangadh, Sathamba, and Vijaynagar. Most of the rainfall activity was concentrated during the evening hours between 6 pm and 10 pm across parts of north Gujarat, central Gujarat, and the Saurashtra region.

Relative humidity levels remained elevated in coastal districts, with Okha recording 84% humidity at 8:30 am, followed by Veraval at 81% and Diu at 78%.

Despite the scattered pre-monsoon showers, temperatures once again crossed the 40°C mark in several districts, leaving residents in many parts of Gujarat grappling with hot and uncomfortable weather conditions. DeshGujarat
