Amit Shah Calls for Two Livestock per Farmer, Cluster Schools at Gandhinagar DISHA Meeting

Gandhinagar: Union Home and Cooperation Minister and Gandhinagar Lok Sabha MP Amit Shah has instructed officials to conduct an immediate survey to provide at least two livestock to every farmer in Gandhinagar district to make them more financially secure. He has also directed officials to start new schools on a cluster basis covering three to four villages to reduce the dropout rate of girls in secondary education.

These instructions were given during a meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA), which was held in the state capital earlier today. Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi was also present at the meeting, which reviewed the implementation of various flagship schemes of the Central Government and the district’s development works.

During the meeting, Amit Shah instructed officials to prepare an immediate contingency plan in view of the delay in rainfall and to collect necessary information by surveying unirrigated areas.

He also stressed creating awareness about new libraries and linking all new libraries with the district-level central library to encourage reading habits among students in the district.

He also directed officials to immediately conduct a survey of villages in the district that are deprived of basic amenities such as domestic gas connections, toilets, drinking water, irrigation facilities, and electricity, and to prepare a report.

Pointing out the need to further clarify the definition of “village” under the Mukhyamantri Gram Sadak Yojana, he suggested including hamlets or settlements with at least 35 houses and electricity connections in the eligibility norms.

Amit Shah also gave strict instructions to work on a war footing to provide Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) cards to all senior citizens above 70 years of age without delay.

MPs Hasmukh Patel and Hari Patel, MLAs Ritaben Patel, Alpesh Thakor, Balrajsinh Chauhan and Jayanti Patel, Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation Mayor Miraben Patel, District Panchayat President Rajesh Patel, District Development Officer Hasrat Jasmin, along with officials from the district administration, taluka panchayats, municipalities, and various departments, were also present at the meeting.
