Gujarat School Textbooks Now Available on Amazon at Printed Price, No Delivery Charges

Gandhinagar: Students of private schools in Gujarat will now be able to order Gujarat State School Textbook Board textbooks online through Amazon and have them delivered to their homes at the printed price, without any delivery charges.

The Gujarat State School Textbook Board on Thursday signed an MoU with Amazon India to make textbooks more accessible to students and parents. The agreement was signed in Gandhinagar in the presence of Education Minister Dr Pradyuman Vaja.

Under the initiative, titled “Books to Students with Just One Click,” textbooks published by the Gujarat State School Textbook Board across different standards and mediums will be made available on Amazon. Students and parents will be able to order the required books online instead of visiting bookstores or relying on distributors.

Vaja described the partnership as a significant step towards “Ease of Education” in the digital age. He said the initiative would make the process of obtaining textbooks more convenient, transparent and efficient for students and their families.

A key feature of the arrangement is that the books will be supplied at the printed price, with no additional delivery charges. The facility will particularly benefit students who need to purchase textbooks in addition to those provided free of cost by the state government.

Speaking at the event, State Textbook Board President Manubhai Pawar said the partnership would benefit students studying in self-finance schools and their parents, who would no longer need to visit retailers or distributors to purchase textbooks. Amazon’s logistics network is expected to facilitate doorstep delivery and reduce waiting times and crowds at bookstores, particularly at the beginning of the academic year.

The Gujarat State School Textbook Board currently supplies around 1.5 crore textbooks every year to students of self-finance schools. At present, the books are distributed to booksellers across districts through authorised distributors.

Amazon India Category Leader, Books, Rashi Bahadur said the company was proud to partner with Gujarat to make educational content more accessible and affordable. She said the initiative would support the delivery of educational material to millions of students and teachers across the state.

The MoU is expected to streamline the existing textbook distribution system while giving parents and students an additional digital channel to obtain books directly.

During the event, Education Minister Vaja also felicitated members of the Textbook Board who worked at its godowns to ensure timely distribution of books, along with teachers who provided honorary services.

Textbook Board Director Vinaygiri Gosai delivered the welcome address, while Deputy Director Harshad Chaudhary proposed the vote of thanks. Amazon representatives Rashi Bahadur and Malay Chaudhary, Education Department officials and members of the Textbook Board were also present. DeshGujarat
