Traditionaly, Shehnai and Dhol were the instruments played during the marriage processions(‘jaan’)in our culture. This is still very much popular scenario in rural wedding functions, even now. Then came Band baja, which was fashionable and which is still very high status choice. But now, one more option has emerged and it has become popular too: D.J. trucks.
This season, many wedding processions had DJ truck arrangement for dance. At one place we asked about this and hosts said that on the same day there were numerous wedding functions in the city and any band baja group was not available so they arranged this DJ truck. At another function young people said that they wanted to dance on original tracks and not only on instrumental music, so they preferred DJ truck.
With loud, big sized speakers running through generator based supply in trucks, cd player plays pre-recorded mixed c.d. in which people get mixture of glimpses of the songs of their choice. For sometime Filmy songs are played, then comes Garba, then Hindi pop and finally Sanedo and Bhangda.
Though high status is still being seen in arranging Band baja only, DJ truck trend has got tremendous response this season.
