1 dead,10 injured in north Gujarat’s Modasa blast

One person was dead(officially confirmed only one person a 15 year old Ghori Muslim boy) and 10 others injured when a low intensity blast occurred in Sabarkantha in Gujarat, late Monday night at 9:27 pm.
According to police, a low intensity blast took place at a Sukhabazar in Modasa town of Sabarkantha district at 9.27 pm. Blast is reported to have taken place at a time when a large crowd had congregated in the market before the festival of Eid.
The bomb is believed to have been implanted on a parked Hero Honda motorbike (fake number plate MH15P4572). The police have cordoned off the area and the injured have been rushed to nearby hospitals. The people have been asked not to panic and remain indoors.
The Superintendent of Police, Sabarkantha, Rajendra Bhrahmabhatt, said that a timer device was used to trigger the blast which took place between 9:30-9:45 PM. He said that police force has been deployed in the affected area and the situation is under control.(Sabarkantha Helpline No: 02772-241303)
Meanwhile whole Gujarat was put on an alert following this incident. Forensic team, bomb squad, sniffer dog team rushed to the Modasa town. In initial investigation, similarities were found between Mehrauli and Modasa blasts. Circuit was found from the blast site. According to sources, Gujarat police was in touch with Delhi on this latest development. Sources in Gujarat’s Home ministry clarified that no intelligence inputs were there from Delhi about this blast.
