Two leading vernacular dailies in Gujarat have revealed that Mohammed Usman Agarbattiwala(24), one of the 10 accused in Ahmedabad bomb blasts case had last year participated in a demonstration in which group of Muslims displayed Osama Bin Laden’s posters openly on the busy road of the city.

Gujarati Dailies have published photographs in support of this fact. Usman could be seen shouting slogans with aggressive body posture in the photographs.

Last year on 25th May, a group of Muslims had openly and fearlessly demonstrated displaying Al Qaida chief Osama bin Laden’s posters in their hands outside the Friday mosque near Mandvi gate immediately after namaaz.

This was apparently for the first time in Gujarat that Osama Bin Laden’s posters were displayed.

While demonstration of Osama bin Laden’s posters was going on, some lower rank policemen were present there. However they were too few, they were in Muslim area, surrounded by aggressive group of Muslims and they were without any order or authority to take strict action. As soon as senior policemen rushed to the place display of Bin Laden’s posters was ended.

Police had detained some Muslims after this event. However most of the others were not traced out or arrested.

After more than a year, Vadodara police has now started reinvestigating this case in the wake of present situation that has arise after Ahmedabad bomb blasts in which Vadodara’s participation including Usman Agarbattiwala’s has been found crucial.

“Police has received CD and cassette of the demonstration. Vadi police station’s inspector SV Sagar has been instructed to re-investigate the case.” Vadodara’s police commissioner Asthana said.

Sources said police has also started investigation about who printed and supplied Bin Laden posters. Bin Laden is not a film star or a cricket sensation. His posters are not available in open market. It is necessary to find out who printed them sources said.

It should be noted that if police had acted promptly and had arrested all the culprits soon after the demonstration took place, Usman could be in a jail. But on the contrary police has yet not filed even a charge sheet in Bin Laden posters case.

Usman Agarbattiwala who is now in police custody in connection with Ahmedabad blasts case and who had also participated in Bin Laden posters display is a commerce graduate from the renowned Maharaja Sayaji Rao University and has a post-graduate diploma degree in human rights.

After Usman’s arrest in connection with Ahmedabad blasts when police raided his uncle’s house around 20 Osama bil Laden and Al Jawahiri CDs, DVDs, laptop, pistol, two live cartridges, pipe bomb and air pistol were found from there.
