On teachers day, here is a wonderful film on Gujarat’s pioneer educationist, teacher, thinker, writer Bhavnagar based Late Shri Gijubhai Badheka. Gijubhai Badheka was an inspiring teacher who rejected the orthodox system of school teaching, and instituted playful mechanisms for learning. He used Montessori methods of teaching, particularly in the language arts. This is a film of his work and his school in Bhavnagar, Gujarat. Gijubhai was so popular as an educationist that whole Gujarat even today knows him as ‘Muchhali maa’ which means ‘A mother with moustache.’
