Peoples president Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam today recommended provision of stringent punishment, faster justice, unified intelligence mechanism and peoples participation to eradicate terrorism from India.

Talking to the press at IIM Ahmedabad Dr. Kalam said that there was a need to implement National Citizen I.D. Code to counter terrorism menace. He said that Central and State governments should re-orient their development programs in a way that fruits of such programs reach every corner of the society. This would also help to counter terrorism. “Terrorists are some evil minds together. To counter them, clean minds would also have to be together. Terrorists operate from within the society. They live with family or in hotel. Common people can brief about suspicious people and movements to the agencies. This awareness is essential. Peoples participation should be there,” Dr. Kalam said.

In the morning while taking class at IIM Ahmedabad, Kalam discussed terrorism with the students in detail. One of the students said “Media is also responsible partner in terrorism act as media glorifies terrorist acts and indirectly help them”. Responding to this Dr. Kalam said that media should focus on development and developmental issues.

Gujarat, a state that was recently hit by Islamic terrorist attacks, Gujarat a state where there is a campaign like mood among people for approval of strong GUJCOC law to fight against terrorism, Kalam’s words were welcomed.
