Surat to Somnath save the girl child rally flagged off

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today flagged off Surat to Somnath Beti Bachao Yatra(save the girl child awareness rally from Surat to Somnath) organized by Saurashtra Jaldhara Trust on the occassion of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth day.
More than 300 cars are participating in this rally which is going to pass through 226 talukas of Gujarat. In each taluka on route, people will take oath to save the girl child. Rally will end at Somnath on 5 November. Rally will pass through Vadodara and Ahmedabad on 1 November and Unjha on 2 November.
Male-Female child sex ratio has touched alarming mark in some parts of Gujarat. Some of the areas with worst record in this regard include Mehsana district(798 ratio that means 798 girls per 1000 boys), Ahmedabad(814), Gandhinagar(816), Rajkot(844), Umarala(705), Unjha(742), Visnagar(766), Gariadhar(770), Mansa(774), Vijapur(777) and Chanasma(803).
