45 ft long whale shark skeleton is new guest at Ahmedabad’s Science City. Skeleton arrived at Ahmedabad’s Science city in a long truck. Skeleton will be set up at Science City’s forthcoming attraction ‘Planet Earth’ which is scheduled to open at least after a year from now.
Sources told DeshGujarat that lot of mechanics and electronics would be added to the dead and simple skeleton. Once ready, this Shark Whale skeleton will actually interact with the visitors. It will tell the visitors about itself and more on science.
More than a year back, dead whale shark’s body had entered to the sea shore of Kolak village in South Gujarat. Body of the Dead fish was latter buried in presence of local Forest department officials.
As Gujarat’s Chief Minister office came to know about this, it muted an idea of shifting skeleton to Ahmedabad’s Science City for educational purpose.
Ahmedabad’s Science city started working on this project under the guidance of the Chief Minister’s office and roped in couple of experts from Vadodara’s M.S.University. Professors from Zoology and Archaeology departments agreed to work on this project. They designed rough outline about skeleton’s possible use for public education in Science City. They also planned for excavation of the skeleton.
Finally Scientists, Zoologist, Forest officers and Archaeologist all together camped at South Gujarat’s Kolak village recently in pre-Diwali days recently and excavated 45 ft long dead whale shark’s skeleton from 15 ft depth after seven days camping at the burial site and continuous efforts by some 50 to 60 laborers day and night.
After discovering it, 45 ft long, 8 ft wide and 6 ft tall Whale shark skeleton’s every part was marked well to make it possible to assemble properly latter on. Lacking parts would be manufactured using plaster of Paris or plastic. Electro-Mechanical additions, scripting, voice recording, finishing treatments all together in coming days will make this skeleton handsome and perfect to guide the visitors who are mostly kids.
Planet Earth pavilion and Mr. Skeleton will be open for visitors at least after a year from now.
Gujarat has already two whale shark skeletons in exhibitions at Bhuj’s park and Vadodara’s museum. However they are steady skeletons while Science City’s whale shark skeleton would be in action.
