Weird:In Gujarat town people receive Computer virus via courier
Bharuch/Ahmedabad, DeshGujarat, 26 November, 2008

It is very usual if virus is delivered to your computer via some junk e-mail or pen drive, but in a small town of central Gujarat in western India more than one dozen computer owners received computer virus via courier and it really worked.

On Tuesday more than dozen different computer owners in Bharuch district’s Jhagadia town received covered Compact discs via Indian Postal Service’s C.D. Mailer courier. Each cover had a CD and a letter inside. In the letter it was mentioned that the CD contains 263 full version softwares including Clip, Eye photo batch, Cutting tool, 1090 Legal document formats in Hindi and Gujarati language, Accounting package and Tutorial.

Curious dozen who received such courier when inserted CD in their computer they were shocked to found that their computers suddenly started behaving in strange manners. Some computers immediately shut down themselves while some others lost their important files and programs. Some computers were crashed while some others hanged.

Printed sticker on the covers described sender as ‘New Vision IT-Tech, 14 Harihar Complex, Ashram Road, Ahmedabad, Gujarat.’ However this detail sounded fake as the postal stamp over each cover mentioned only Jhagadia’s marking proving the point that the covers were sent by some local person.

Some of those who were targeted via CD Mailer include local News and Publicity office owner Jaysinghbhai Patel, Computer operator in government office Dhaval Shah and Studio owner Samirbhai Shah.

So if you are a computer owner, next time please beware of not only junk emails but junk couriers too.
