Kandla/Ahmedabad, DeshGujarat, 6 December, 2008
In wake of Mumbai’s Pakistan sponsored Islamic terror attacks that took place via off Gujarat coastal route, Gujarat’s Kandla port has initiated number of steps to step up security levels.
Security at Kandla Port is handled by Central Industrial Security Force(CISF). Just before one and half month, 40 nautical mile “Prahari” speed boat at the cost of Rs 1.05 crore had arrived at the port. One more such boat will arrive soon.
Two speed boats will make the port more secure.
On Friday, Gujarat Anti Terrorist Squad chief Shamshersingh visited Kandla port and held a meeting with port’s top brass for comprehensive discussion on port’s security issues. Issuing of identity cards to every single person in port area including labors was among the issues discussed in the meeting.
