Patidad near Gondal in Saurashtra area of Gujarat is an interesting village. All the houses, walls, everything external in this village has been painted in a light saffron Hindu color.Village’s Gayatri Parivar has started this movement with support from villagers.
You watched how casually Congress Textile Minister Shankarsinh Vaghela commented on the issue of slums relating with the India’s villagers and their migration to cities. But just watch here, Patidad can be the answer.
Patidad, famous as an ideal village is the place where Gutkha and tobacco are banned by the villagers voluntarily. Women in Patidad have formed a group for satsang and bhajans and they are now exploring opportunities of making Khakhra and Papad to export abroad. Youths in this village organize polio camps, they eradicate Ganda Bawal weed, they work for check dams to conserve water, they have planted 11000 trees in the village.
