When Arun Jaitley was in Ahmedabad for “Friends of BJP” function and journalists asked him to speak something on Varun Gandhi issue, he refused, stating that the case is sub judice.

Next day, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi was in Vadodara. He talked with the media on Congress manifesto, but when asked to say something about Varun Gandhi issue, he refused, and left the place. Next day in Times Now interview, people watched Modi refusing to comment on Varun issue ditto following his friend Arun Jaitley’s line and said, the case is sub-judice. In all his rallies Modi didn’t speak a word on Varun episode, not even in Uttar Pradesh.

Modi was twice in Uttar Pradesh recently. BJP while using Varun Gandhi issue in Uttar Pradesh has avoided using it elsewhere. It was believed that at least in Uttar Pradesh rallies, Modi would say something on Varun issue, something at least on clearly unjustified use of National Security Act and attempt of murder charges lodged on him, but Modi didn’t.

But story doesn’t end at Varun Gandhi issue, on Sunday, Narendra Modi was in Faizabad(other part of Ayodhya), but in his 30 minute speech he did not even mention Ram mandir.

It should be noted that the BJP in it’s manifesto has said, “There is an overwhelming desire of the people in India and abroad to have a grand temple at the birth place of Sri Ram in Ayodhya. The BJP will explore all possibilities, including negotiations and judicial proceedings, to facilitate the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.”

So at least in Lord Rama’s Faizabad(Aodhya) belt, this issue was expected to be addressed in Modi’s speech, but Modi avoided. However “Mr. selective secular”, Narendra Modi mentioned Ram setu issue in his speech enthusiastically. He threw questions to the people in his 2007 Gujarat assembly election campaign style “Was Sita kidnapped? Did Lord Hanum,an go to Lanka? Did Ramsena follow him? Was the setu made thereafter?” Every time the crows answered “Yes”. Modi then said, “You all know it but the people of Congress don’t know.”
