By-election for seven Gujarat assembly seats on September 10

The Election Commission has announced today that by-elections to 20 assembly seats spread over seven states, would be held on September 10.
The polls for Gujarat’s Chotila, Jasdan, Dhoraji, Kodinar, Dehgam, Sami and Danta assembly seats will be held on September 10. The counting will be only four days after the election on September 14.
Nominations for these seats close on August 24, scrutiny next day and withdrawals allowed up to August 27.
According to the poll schedule, notification would be issued on August 17. Last date for filing nomination.

Chotila: Sitting Congress MLA died due to illness
Jasdan: Sitting Congress MLA won Loksabha and resigned
Dhoraji: Sitting Congress MLA won Loksabha and resigned
Kodinar: Sitting BJP MLA won Loksabha and resigned
Dehgam: Sitting Congress MLA won Loksabha and resigned
Sami-Harij: Sitting Congress MLA resigned and contested the Lok Sabha election from BJP but defeated
Danta: Sitting Congress MLA won Loksabha and resigned
