Surat, DeshGujarat, 26 August, 2009
The second round of showers were experienced in central and southern Gujarat areas on Wednesday. Leaving Navsari, all other central and southern districts received 10 to 35 mm of rains on Tuesday night. The rain has given a new lease of life to the crops of paddy, sugarcane and vegetables in these areas.
The second round is about 10-12 days late and just 20 to 30 mm of rain is not enough to completely rescue the crop. However this can be considered as a good start of second round. The meteorological department has predicted rains in coming 10 days. Farmers are hoping of monsoon revival now as the Meteorological department has predicted more rains from August 27.
