For those of us who don’t know Gujarati much, can you please provide a translation of the lyric in English? It sounds great and I think it has great meaning too for younger generation.
@Tathagata,
I hope you can read in devanagari. I have put the full poem attached below.
Yes it is relevant for the young generation.
The song intends to describe a gentleman living in the past millennium on the basis of:
his taste for drinks (herbal milk),
his ways of sending messages (through Pigeon crew),
his mode of transportation (through bullock cart),
his favorite celebrity (Nargis Dutt)
Interestingly, when you look at the young generation of the new age youths, the trend is to go organic, guilt-free lifestyle, and 100% fault proof from the technological bugs.
In that sense, the songs depicts the commonalities between aspirations of a gentleman adhering to the ways of the past millennium and the new Y generation which exhorts the same values for the new age for a peaceful modern guilt-free intellectual society.
He doesn’t like the (toxic) Pepsi nor (the market-hyped) Thumps up, However this gentleman is quick to gobble a herbal milk, as lived in the past millennium.
Neither uses a (big overhead) courier, nor a (glitch prone) S.T.D, nor (degraded document) Fax, and fearful from the (annoyance, disturbing, lack of privacy) mobile phones. This gentleman living in the past millennium prefers to send messages through Pigeons (the most confidential and 100% effective).
Instead of the (breakdown prone and maintenance nuisance) cars, this gentleman enjoys the ride over a bullock cart (that is earth friendly without the global warming doom)
He doesn’t like to see whores skin shows in cinema, instead he prefers to dream of (charming and modest actress) Nargis Dutt.
THANKS, I THINK THIS”RAISE’ GUY IS REALISTIC…..

Thx Inquilab for the lyric in Devnagri and English. Nice song.
Consumerism is root cause of most of today’s problem. Gandhiji provides a way out.
I should say, we need to evolve and marry our culture with good parts of western culture and refuse bad bad parts. Everything of West is not bad. We have to pick, choose selectively that helps us in the long run to make our country, culture more powerful.
(We studied Sanskrit from class 5 to 8 in Govt schools in West Bengal. Can understand Hindi fully. But can read haltingly. Trying to brush up Devnagri by reading old text books.)
It is really a pleasure …………
Shyamal and Saumil have get me involved in Gujarati Sangeet.
Thanks.
