Porbandar’s Maher Dandiya Mandli to perform in Argentina

Porbandar’s Chhaya based Maher Ras Group has been invited to perform Maher Gujarati tradtional Raas in Festival of India being organized in Argentina.

The Festival of India is organized in different country every year to showcase Indian culture.

Chhaya based Maher Ras Mandli was established in 1970.

About Festival of India in Argentina

The Embassy of India in Argentina and the government of the city of Buenos Aires present the Festival of India, intended to promote and portrait the Indian culture in our country. The inauguration will take place on Thursday, November 5th, 2009, at 12 noon, in the Centro Cultural Borges. The rest of the activities in the festival, that will last until November15th, will be held in different venues: Centro Cultural Borges, Hotel Sheraton, the Rose Garden, and Casa de la Cultura, every day of the week from 12 noon to 8 PM.

The festival includes dance and music performances representing different regions of India; Bollywood film festival at Centro Cultutal Borges; painting and photo exhibitions at Casa de la Cultura; workshops and seminars on Indian culture, yoga, ayurveda and meditation; demonstrations of Bollydance; a golf tournament at the Jockey Club of Buenos Aires on Monday, November 9th; and a gastronomic festival at the Sheraton Hotel (with reservation only, calling 4318-9264).

All the events, except the food festival, are free and open to the public.

    Indeed a matter of proud for all Indians and especially us Gujarati…….
    The form of dance reminds us how rich our culture is.

    This becomes even more special for so many of Gujaratis who are living outside India in some western countries. When we see such marvelous show of our age old dancing skills, we do realize what the Hip-Hop, Break Dance and all other western forms of dance are missing in them.

    Congratulations to the people involved. You people are the real custodians of our rich cultural heritage, may god bless you with all the success in times to come….
