Sabarmati River Front to host 20th International Kite Festival

Ahmedabad’s Sabarmati River Front’s reclaimed land surface will host three-day long 20th International Kite Festival organized by the Government of Gujarat during 10-14 January this year.
Chief Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the festival on 11th. The inaugural function would be presided by the Governor of Gujarat Shrimati Kamla. The function will start with Surya Namaskar performance by about 7,000 school children. About 105 kite-fliers from 34 countries, and 120 kitefliers from nine states of India will fly their specialized kites on the bank of river Sabarmati between Nehru bridge and Gandhi bridge in the city of Ahmedabad. On 13th of January, Surat and Porbandar also will host parallel kite festivals. On 14th the kite-fliers will fly kites with the people of Ahmedabad on roof tops of century old houses in wall city area.
A theme pavilion will be opened by Tourism minister Jaynarayan Vyas on 10 January at 5 pm. Gujarat Tourism Corporation Limited Chairman Kamleshbhai Patel will inaugurate International Kite flying competition in the morning on same day. The competition will be held between 11 am and 4 pm.
