8 Naxals transferred to more secure Surat sub jail

Eight out of nine Naxal suspects arrested by Special Investigation Team of Gujarat Police are transferred to Surat Sub Jail. They were earlier imprisoned in Kamrej sub jail, but after one prisoner – not Naxal – successfully fled from Kamrej sub jail, the Maoist suspects were transferred to safer sub jail in Surat.
The Maoists include Niranjan Mahapatra who was arrested from Pandesara in Surat, KN Singh arrested from Bhavnagar, Ramu Pawar arrested from Mumbai, Avinash Kulkarni, Bharat Pawar, Silat Pawar arrested from the Dangs, Maka Chaudhary arrested from Mandvi, Jeram Goswami arrested from Songadh and Satyam Rao arrested from Andhra Pradesh. While Satyam Rao is on police remands till eight April, the other Maoist suspects are in judicial custody.
The Police have found these Maoists involved in activities of CPI Janshakti. Meanwhile police has started repairing and strengthening Kamrej sub jail complex.
