The government of India will provide biometrics identity card to all fishermen of coastal Gujarat before 15th of August in view of national security.
Jamnagar based Fisheries office will complete this job by setting up 23 centres and employing extra staff.
All active fishermen of above-16 age will be covered in this scheme. Bharat Electronics Company’s representatives will visit the places and feed the data in computer. Fishermen will have to produce ration card, election identity card, fishermen cooperative or village talati’s certificate.
In post-mosoon fishing season, only those fishermen with biometrics card will be allowed to go into the sea.
