Over 15 lakh ton sugar stock lying idle on Kutch ports
Bhuj, DeshGujarat, 10 July 2010
Due to non-allotment of more racks by railways, Gujarat’s two major ports Kandla and Mundra are witnessing 15 lakh ton of sugar lying idle here.
It is learnt through sources that railway is allotting only three to four racks per week presently. But this facilitates hardly several thousand ton of sugar.
Several north Indian states import row sugar on Kandla and Mundra ports. However even after ban has been lifted, the millers are not able to have row sugar at their facilities on time due to non-availability of railway’s enough racks.
