Saurashtra’s Pipavav to get new Coast Guard station

Gujarat’s Pipavav will have a new Coast Guard station, this information was given by Defence Minister Shri AK Antony in a written reply to Shri PC Gaddigoudar and others in Lok Sabha today.
Minister said, presently there are twenty eight Coast Guard Stations in the country. State / Union Territory-wise numbers are:Gujarat -6, Maharashtra-2, Goa-1, Karnataka-2, Kerala-3, Delhi-1, Tamil Nadu-4, Andhra Pradesh-2, Orissa-1, West Bengal-1, Andaman & Nicobar-4, Lakshadweep-1, total 28.
The minister said, modernisation of Coast Guard Stations including assets and equipment is done as an ongoing process based on requirements and for which adequate funds are provided. He said, Government have approved ten new stations which include Pipavav (Gujarat), Ratnagiri and Dahanu (Maharashtra), Minicoy and Androth (Lakshadweep), Karaikal (Tamil Nadu), Nizampatnam and Krishnapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), Gopalpur (Orissa) and Kamorta (Andaman & Nicobar).
