Gandhinagar, DeshGujarat, 15 August, 2010
North Gujarat’s Banaskantha has crossed 100% rainfall mark in Gujarat, this monsoon. Gujarat’s total six districts have witnessed more than 100% normal rainfall this monsoon. The districts are: Kutch(155.11%), Jamnagar(155.81%), Junagadh(110.45%), Porbandar(136.73%), Rajkot(109.10%), and Banaskantha, the latest one(106.81%).
Last year Banaskantha experienced very poor monsoon, which caused panic situation. Many villages were getting water through Narmada canal in this arid district. When canal was closed for maintenance for some days, some villages were supplied water through tankers.
However this year, the district has received blessings of Rain God. And the monsoon is not over yet.
It should be mentioned that Banaskantha district’s five out of twelve talukas have crossed 100% mark, while other talukas have experienced 75 to 98.65% rainfall so far.
Next in line to join 100% mark are the districts such as Surendranagar(96.77%), Patan(95.39%), and Ahmedabad(91.90%).
