Modi demands PM’s apology for Chidu’s ‘Saffron terror’ comment

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday demanded Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s apology for his cabinet minister P.Chidambaram’s controversial ‘Saffron Terror’ comment. Modi attacked Chidambaram for his comment. Modi was speaking at Vadodara during Garib Kalyan Mela. Modi asked the people, do they salute the national flag? Isn’t Saffron the colour of people and country? The central government is calling the people terrorists.

Modi was in Vadodara to attend three major functions. He dedicated a 175 meter long Sky Walk ( Foot Over Bridge) on Saturday evening.

The sky walk connects Vadodara Railway Station to city bus statio. It has been constructed at the cost of Rs. 2 crore, aiming to facilitate people reach either side without crossing heavy vehicular traffic here.

Modi also performed ground breaking ceremony of North Harni Over Head Water Project which will be constructed at estimated cost of Rs. 7.73 crore. This ambitious project will provide clean drinking water to 20,000 people of Harni area, with adequate pressure.

The Chief Minister disbursed schemes worth Rs. 24.06 crore to the needy urban poor people of the city during a mega Garib Kalyaan Mela (Economic Welfare Fair for the Poorest of Poor) to be held at Akota Sports Complex. As many as 5239 people were given away assets and cash assistance under various development schemes. As many as 915 beneficiaries were given away residential plots and housing units worth Rs. 22.51 crore under various housing schemes set up to help homeless people.

It should be mentioned that date of election for six Municipal Corporations in Gujarat including Vadodara Municipal Corporation, is likely to be announced on 30th of August. Code of conduct will be effective then on. In view of this, the city of Vadodara today witnessed Modi’s hectic visit.
