Pilgrim town Somnath has now started witnessing Diwali vacation rush.
All hotels and guest houses are full and there’s no more capacity to accommodate more tourists.
Tourists therefore prefer to a short stop over here and then proceed to Sasan gir or Diu.
For last some years, seasonal domestic tourism is on rise in Gujarat.
Gujaratis especially prefer to visit the Sorat triangle which includes three major destinations: Sasan Gir forest, Somnath mandir and Diu island.
Due to poor post-monsoon condition of highways, road journey is not as smooth as the tourists expect to be.
In Sasan Gir, the forest department usually issues 90 permits for tourists every day to visit jungle, but due to extra rush thanks to Diwali vacation, the department has started issuing 150 permits per day from today onwards.
In Gujarat, school a 21-day long vacation started two days back and will continue to give push to domestic tourism till second week of November.
