Who published what on Narendra Modi’s China visit, day zero?

Gujarat Samachar has published a story that each industrialist accompanying Narendra Modi on China tour has paid Rs 22 lakh for the expenses of the visit. Gujarat Samachar has described Modi’s China visit as a royal visit mentioning that Modi departed to China with 21 others in United Arab Emirate’s Royal Jet Air luxury chartered plane. The article further says that bigger five industrialists are contributing some amount for participation of smaller industrialists. The article also mentions that Zydus Cadila group’s captain Pankaj Patel canceled his participation in Modi’s China visit.

Another Gujarati newspaper Divya Bhaskar has also highlighted Modi’s China trip ‘in private plane’. The article in its core part questions secrecy of Modi’s detail schedule of China visit.The article raises question that while Modi is on China visit with the permission of the government of India, why his detailed programme of visit has not been announced!

Gujarati newspaper Sandesh has not published anything on Modi’s China visit today.

The Times of India stands apart in reporting Modi’s China tour as it is powered by Saibal Dasgupta, its correspondent in China. Other publications mostly rely on agency fed news aor news provided by Modi’s PRO Jagdish Thakkar who is also in China accompanying the CM.

Rather than focusing on trivial issues, ToI in its article says the Communist Party of China is paying close attention to Modi’s visit. Modi is scheduled to meet CPC leaders on five different occasions during his four-day visit. ToI story points out that Modi is going to meet a top leader of the CPC at the Great hall of the people which is the venue where foreign visitors are greeted by China’s President, Premier or Chairman of the standing committee of the National People’s Congress, which is the Chinese parliament. Modi will meet the Mayor and party secretary of Beijing and Shanghai, two major cities and will take dinner with Sinchuan province CPC leader on 11th. He will also meet Sinchan Governor at Chengdu on 12th.

Times of India’s tabloid edition has published a super light short piece comparing Narendra Modi and the last ruler of the Jin dynasty of China known as Modi of Jin. Emperor Modi of Jin ruled for less than a day before being killed by the Mongolians. He was the shortest serving monarch in Chinese history.

The Hindu is also having its correspondent (very active and lively) Ananth Krishnan in Beijing. He has contributed couple of articles on Modi’s visit so far. One is about 22 Gujarati diamond merchants who are in jail in China, while the other is about TBEA’s investment in Gujarat and China map controversy.

Indian Express and Economic Times are silent on Modi’s visit on the first day. However DNA has published completely novel version of Modi’s visit. Under the headline ‘CM in China for BJP image change?’ the article says quoting the sources that recently when Madhya Pradesh CM visited China, some embarrassing comments were made by his delegation and the Chinese newspapers had reported negatively about the CM’s visit. Hence the BJP has given the task of salvaging the party’s image in China to Narendra Modi.
