IPS D.G.Vanzara who is in Ahmedabad’s Sabarmati jail for last five years in Sohrabuddin fake encounter case today while speaking at convocation function of Annamalai University inside the jail said that the inmates are in jail because they have shown bravery.

When Vanzara stood up to speak, the prisoners started applause welcoming him. Vanzara in his speech said, “I am here for last five years. Present officers of jail have turned this Sabarmati jail into Sabarmati ashram. A prisoner who comes here leaves this jail without worrying about his future, because thanks to various courses and spiritual atmosphere, the environment of jail has been changed.”

Vansara thanked IPS P.C.Thakur, Brahmakumariz and Annamalai university and said, “Cowards don’t land in jail. we are mard(brave men) and have acted like a brave men therefore we are here. And we will leave this jail as mard.”

Vanzara is also poet and has written several books of poetry from inside the jail. In his own style, he said:

“What is a complete brave man?
A complete brave man lives happy in all circumstances,
Who lives happily even when circumstances are adverse,
Who lives happily if in palace,
Who lives happily if in jail.”

Not only prisoners, but police officials present in the function also clapped in response to Vanzara’s speech.

56 prisoners were given diplomas today in this convocation function in the subject of ‘Value education and spirituality’ inside the jail campus.
