Jamnagar, 20 December 2011
Concluding his one-day fast at Jamnagar under Sadbhavna Mission district abhiyan Chief Minister Narendra Modi said that people are supporting the Mission in a huge way and their support is a reflection of their worship towards their state.
As many as 11,111 people from the Jamnagar city and Dhrol-Jodiya and Kalawad taluka sat on the fast with the Chief Minister today to convey their support.
Chief Minister also announced a development package of Rs.3,500 crore for Jamnagar city and the district. He said the present government has used every paisa for the welfare of people without increasing the tax, putting a break on the corrupt practices of the past Congress governments where mediators were siphoning the money that were meant for the good of the people. Mr.Modi said the package announced for Jamnagar is even more than the state budget during the Congress regime.
Thanking the people for their support Chief Minister said that a power-hungry and anti-Gujarat troop has spared no opportunity to defame Gujarat during last ten years. Sadbhavna Mission is a satvic way of answering these people. The element of serenity in the Sadbhanva Mission is the reason behind the huge support of the people.
It is out of the capacity of any political pandit to analyze the unprecedented support that is being received by Sadbhavna Mission. Those who try to weigh this support with political point of view are making a mistake, he said..
Gujarat and development has become synonymous to each other. This is because of the atmosphere of peace, unity and harmony that is prevailing in the state. Riots and curfews have become the days of past and the Modi-model has become the yardstick of development, he said.
Chief Minister exuded faith that the power of Sadbhana would contribute greatly in the growth of the nation.
No counter fast
Today was Modi’s first Sadbhavana fast against which Gujarat Congress couldn’t organize a counter-fast. Though Gujarat Congress leaders say that lack of venue availability was responsible for such development, the fact according to insiders is that local MP Vikram Madam is not happy with the state unit. Madam has reportedly showed his displeasure with appointment of state office bearers from his district without his consent. Insiders also say that state unit is not ready to bear the burden of cost incurred in organizing a counter-fast at district level. This is also one of the reasons that is responsible for today’s situation.
