A Nashua High School South student Bhavik Patel, 17, was on Friday charged with bringing Oxycodone to class. He faces a Class B felony narcotic drug possession charge for which he can get up to seven years in prison for a felony charge of possession of narcotics
Staff at Nashua South alerted police that afternoon about Patel having the a small quantity of the drug while on the grounds of the School, police said Tuesday. When investigated by police and school resource officers, it was found that Patel didn’t have a prescription for the Oxycodone, police said.
Nashua Police Lt. Frank Sullivan said because oxycodone is considered a Schedule II drug, and the chance of addiction is high, it’s something the school and the police take seriously.
“The school is sending a clear message that having this type of narcotic on school property will not be tolerated,” Sullivan said.
Patel was released on $5,000 personal recognizance bail and has an arraignment scheduled for Jan. 20.
