Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today said said that Ahmedabad will be made Maritime city through development of Dholera special investment region. He said in 1894, Ranchhodlal Chhotalal had tried to construct a canal from Ahemdabad to Khambhat in Sabarmati river for development of textile industry via sea route.Now the government of Gujarat is working on the same project in modern outlook through development of Dholera region.
Modi was speaking at a function organized by Darshak Itihas Nighi to launch professor Makrand Mehta’s book ‘Gujarat and sea’.
Modi said Gujarat sea coast deals with 35% cargo traffic of India. He said Gujarat government on its own will develop marine engineering sector on it’s coast.
