Ahmedabad’s Sabarmati River Front based Gujarati Sahitya Parishad campus has now a revamped R.V.Pathak auditorium, thanks to the donors who contributed for repair and refurnishing, including Shri Morari Bapu who also donated Rs 5 lakh for new version of the old hall which was in devastated condition in recent past.
Few months back, the Gujarati Sahitya Parishad hall was in so poor condition, that back support of many chairs had gone flat. Voices of fans were interrupting the speeches, power supply would go off at any time due to faulty power connections. The hall remained in such condition for not few months, but few years.
But now, thanks to few donors, and willingness of present office bearers of Gujarati Sahitya Parishad, the hall has dressed a revamped look.
It should be mentioned here that the city of Amdavad badly needs some good auditoriums. The first choice among those searching for good auditorium is Tagore hall. Town hall has faulty sound system, therefore those who love quality, avoid it, otherwise it is second choice. Thakorbhai Desai hall is another hall that is chosen by many. However this hall is victim of menace of block booking. One powerful drama organizer always books this hall in advance, occupying all important dates, blocking any chance of getting dates to other organizers. Recently Mumbai based senior actor Paresh Rawal had verbal fight with Thakorbhai Desai hall management on this issue, and police had to be called to sort out the matter.
Then there’s Dinesh hall near Ashram road, but again, it is in very poor condition. ATMA hall is good, but very small, and can be used just for small meeting purpose. Ahmedabad Management Association has now JB hall which is good, but can be only used for academic programmes and speeches.
Gujarati Sahitya Parishad’s new hall thus comes as blessings. On Saturday, Shri Morari Bapu dedicated the revamped version of the hall.
Presented above are two videos. While first video features the visuals of new hall, the second video contains Shri Morari Bapu’s complete speech delivered on this occasion. The speech is in Gujarati.
