Bhavnagar University to be renamed as Shri Krishnakumarsinhji Gohil University

Bhavnagar university will be renamed as Shri Krushnakumarsinhji University, Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi announced yesterday on the even of Republic day. Shri Modi said that Bhavnagar was chosen to host the state level function of Republic day because it is 100th birth anniversary of late Maharaja Shri Krishnakumarsinhji.
Shri Modi also announced a new ship building park at Bhavnagar coast.
Shri Krishnakumarsinhji was born on 19 May, 1912. He became Bhavnagar’s ruler succeeding Shri Bhavsinhji in 1919 at the age of seven. He was the first Indian ruler who gave away his state to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel for formation of India. He was then appointed as Governor of Madras.
