Godhra train carnage convict Shaukat Badam arrested(Video)


Vadodara, 21 February, 2012

Shaukat Abdullah Badam, convicted in Godhra Sabarmati Express carnage case, who was on the run after jumping parole was today arrested by Crime Branch of police in Ahmedabad at Gita mandir based ST station.

Shaukat has been granted life sentence in connection with the 2002 Godhra train carnage case. Police had granted parole to Shaukat Badam and was released from Vadodara central jail on December 13 for a wedding of his daughter. Shaukat was lastly seen at his home but then was missing.

Police had issued lookout notices to all police districts in the country and all immigration points were alerted.

When police arrested him, Shaukat said that he had sought parole to attend his daughter’s wedding, but somehow wedding could not take place and therefore he didn’t return to jail.

Shaukat’s brother Bilal Abdullah Badam, convicted in same case was also given parole on December 8. He too is missing.
