No notification on cotton export yet, wait grows longer

Rajkot, 4 May 2012

Central minister of Commerce Anand Sharma announced to end suspension on new registration for cotton export on Monday. He said that the suspension was lifted with immediate effect, but even after four days, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has not issued notification in this regard.

In absence of notification, the announcement of central minister serves no purpose so far, said a cotton ginner from Saurashtra.

“We are getting regular inquiries from China, Pakistan and south east Asian countries, but we have not responded as we are waiting for notification to be issued by central government,” another ginner from Saurashtra told DeshGujarat.

“Minister may announce something in media, but we rely on the text of the notification, because sometime it differs with the announcement in part,” he added.
