May 08, 2012

Press release, Ahmedabad, 8 May 2012
Shri Arjun Modhwadia, President of Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee while releasing of book “Karkirdi na Umbre”-What after Standard 12? -A career guidance book, stated that selection of courses for future development after Standard 12 is very important. He said that this is a sincere effort for the seventh consecutive year through this career guidance book by Gujarat Congress party to disseminate information for enabling students of Gujarat to select courses according to his/her capability and perform well in respective discipline in this competitive era. This program of career guidance launched by Congress party has been given special attention in the report published in National Convention of Indian National Congress Committee.
The Union Government, under the able leadership of Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and Smt. Sonia Gandhi, President of Indian National Congress, has enacted historical Act of “Right to Education” ensuring fundamental constitutional right of every child to have education. On the other hand, Government of Gujarat is directionless for implementation of “Right to Education Act”. Education is being commercialized in the State in large scale.
Apart from I.I.T., another national-level institute Central University has been established in Gujarat which would add to the glory of Gujarat and remain a landmark in education field. At one hand, Union Government is allocating crores of rupees to be spent on education, on the other hand, Government of Gujarat is spending money spent for education on festivities and celebrations, which deprives students of Gujarat from better education infrastructure. Vacancies of Head Masters, lecturers and other posts are not being filled by the Gujarat Government for the last ten years which is causing immense loss to future of students and qualified young persons are deprived of employment.
Under Bhartiya Janta Party regime in the State where industrialists are being provided with all possible assistance, Gujarat has ranked at 14th number in the nation with expenditure of only 13.9% on education of children and youth of the State which resulting slipping to 12th number from 9th rank with literacy rate of 79.13. Gujarat has been at the 14th rank in Education Index, with drop out rate of 59.11 it has been ranked at 14th number and has been at the bottom of table with 28th rank so far as number of rural students who are able to read and write English, the percentage of which is just 7.95.
Government of India has allocated 31,000 crores of rupees on primary education and 31,200 crores of rupees under Skill Development Mission. Special scholarship schemes for S.C., S.T. and minority students have been introduced. By establishing knowledge network, the Government of India intend to interlink more than 400 Universities of the country and more than 100 national institutes and during 2012, about 19,000 knowledge network nodes will be established. Shri Arjun Modhwadia, GPCC President acclaimed Shri Himanshu Vyas, Shri Nishit Vyas and Dr. Manish Doshi for compilation of this book.
Shri Shaktisinh Gohil, Gujarat Congress Legislature Party Leader, extending his greetings on the event of unveiling of book “Karkirdi na Umbre” – What after Standard 12? – A career guidance book, stated that a noble cause of publication of career guidance book for students of Standard 10 and 12 by Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee through sincere efforts of its dedicated leader Dr. Manish Doshi (Engineer) and all his colleague is worth appreciation and congratulated all of them.
Shri Shaktisinh Gohil further stated that the Congress-lead Union Government of UPA has allocated five-time more money on education during the 10th Five Year Plan and 11th and 12th Five Year Plan, however, efforts for making education available to all in Gujarat are being reduced by the Government of Gujarat and education is being commercialized at fast pace. State Government must support economically to the students with substance by raising scholarship rates.
Shri Shaktisinh Gohil stated that more than 70% posts of Lecturers in Government Degree-Diploma Engineering and Pharmacy colleges are vacant since long. Results of Gujarat Technological University conducting examinations of Engineering and Pharmacy are very poor. Results of Engineering are 38%, Pharmacy 39%, M.B.A. 38% and Diploma Courses is just 18%. It appears that State Government is more concerned for the management of self-finance institutes rather than of students of technical education and their parents who are paying huge amount of fees for such courses.
Dr. Manish Doshi, Editor of book “Karkirdi na Umbre” – What after Standard 12? – A career guidance book, released for the consecutive seven year, stated that while numbers of opportunities are available at the State and National-level for various courses after Standard 12, only timely and proper guidance is necessary.
