Doctors, engineers, teachers, U.S. return youths were part of Gujarat Police’s passing out parade

Ahmedabad, 14 May 2012
A passing out parade of 387 newly-trained police personnel and officers of Gujarat Police Academy (GPA), Karai was organized today with 61 new deputy superintendents of police (DySPs) including 20 women, 177 police sub-inspectors, 116 women Lok Rakshak and 33 intelligence officers.
And among those who passed out today from the police academy were highly qualified candidates including 4 doctors, 16 engineers and 6 teachers. They all left their profession and joined Gujarat Police, “to serve the state” according to them.
There was also one Govind Chauhan who in in America since 2006 and could become American citizen, but he returned back and joined the police force. He said his brother is Australian citizen and he also could stay back in America, but he wanted to serve Gujarat and therefore came back and selected to join the police force.
