New Delhi, 18 May, 2012
Alleging that Gujarat Governor Kamla Devi Beniwal had “forged documents” to acquire a piece of land in her native state Rajasthan, BJP today demanded that she should be recalled with immediate effect.
“Gujarat Governor has shown herself as a farm labourer working for 14-16 hours a day and has taken a piece of land worth crores of rupees. We have taken this type of scam and crime seriously…We demand that in view of serious corruption charges, she should be called back immediately,” BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi told reporters outside Parliament here.
He also demanded a high-level probe into the matter.
“An inquiry under a high court judge in the matter should be done immediately,” Mr. Naqvi said.
The BJP leader said the party wanted the issue to be discussed in the Rajya Sabha “but the Chair did not give us opportunity.”
Mr. Naqvi said, “The most shocking fact in this story is that how can one person holding a constitutional post can be working as a farm labourer.”
He claimed Rajasthan Government officials have also said that the piece of land has been acquired through wrong means and the allocation was made on the basis of forged documents.
