Gordhan Zadafia led MahaGujarat Janata Party has announced one-day bandh call tomorrow in Amreli district’s Damnagar town where ten Hindus attacked by Muslims were injured(five of them seriously injured) yesterday.

In Damnagar, some local Sunni Muslims are opposing construction of BAPS Swaminaraan mandir. The dispute is 15-year old and court case is going on in the High Court in this regard.

Yesterday a group of Muslim women rushed to the construction site of Swaminarayan Mandir, and entered inside the closed campus demanding that they wanted to read Fatiyaa there.

When contacted, the local police arrived at the construction site and requested Muslim women to leave the place for the sake of peace in village.

As soon as the women returned to their area, the attack on Hindus sparked off. One Muslim fired two rounds from his private gun. Total ten Hindus and one Muslim were injured in this incident. Five Hindus were seriously injured.

The Muslims of Damnagar believe that part of the land given to Swaminarayan Mandir was once their burial ground.

Local BJP MLA is of opinion that those guilty must be arrested, but innocents should not be harassed. Sadbhavana tinted BJP MLA said that in this small village, both communities should live peacefully together.

On the other hand MaGujarat Janata Party’s Amreli district chief JB Kumbhani has declared one-day strike call on Saturday against the violent attack on Hindus.
