11% Kharif sowing completed in Gujarat by 2nd July

By 2 July, Gujarat has witnessed Kharif sowing in only 11% area. Last year by 2 July sowing was seen on 12,05,100 hectares, this year on same date it is 9,49,500 hectares. In last week only 2% area was added to Kharif sowing.
The crop of cotton needs relatively lesser amount of water. So far 20% sowing of cotton has been completed in Gujarat over 5,37,700 hectares. Of this Saurashtra’s seven districts have witnessed total 2,57,000 hectare sowing. The highest is in Surendranagar district which is 1,48,600 hectares. In north Gujarat, cotton sowing has been over in 1,30,600 hectares while in central Gujarat it is 86,700 hectares.
Compare to last three year average normal sowing, 15% or corn sowing, 14% of ground nut, 13% of Guar seed and 15% of vegetables sowing has been completed.
