Former Gujarat Chief Minister, and Gujarat Congress’s Campaign Committee head Shankersinh Vaghela’s remarks in Gujarat Congress’s minority cell meeting at Gandhinagar Preksha Bharti are in discussion among the Muslims.
On Sunday, speaking at minority cell gathering Mr Vaghela said, “We expect 90% voting from you. And you go for 20% , 25% 30% voting? You oblige us by doing this little voting? You think about that, we will survive, but if they are elected for third time what would happen to you?”
“The party which is facing allegation that it is the party of Muslims. And for such party the Muslims would vote (only) 20% 30%, 40%? You need to change the government. You have to go for 90% voting,” he added.
Referring to a 1997 Radhanpur by-election,Vaghela said, “Tamara bharose amare rahevanu chhe? Tamaro bharoso, ame to badnaam thai gayela. Radhanpur ma Shankarulla Khan banelo. Yaad karo tame badha (we became infamous by relying on you. I became infamous as Shankarulla Khan in Radhanpur).”
