Raj Tours and Travels founder Lalit Sheth jumped off the Bandra-Worli sea link, dies

The dead body of Lalit Sheth, 56, the founder-chairman of Raj Travels and Tourism Ltd was found today washed ashore near Worli village in central Mumbai according to police.

Police said, Shri Lalit Sheth jumped off the Bandra-Worli Sea Link today afternoon and his body was found near the Worli village.

As per police report, Sheth told his driver to stop the car on the sea link, and got down and told the driver to drive the vehicle ahead slowly so that he could take a walk. Sheth then allegedly jumped into the sea, the police added.

Police officials said that a suicide note was found in his vehicle and his body had been sent to Sion Hospital for an autopsy. According to police sources, financial problems might have led him to take the extreme step.

Sheth launched Raj Travels & Tours Ltd in 1976, and in the mid-90s he launched the now-defunct Raj Air, a private airline, which shut down after a few years following financial problems.
