Gandhinagar, 2 August 2012
Reacting to yesterday’s incident of low intensity serial blasts in Pune, Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi said that people expect the government to demonstrate its strength and its presence by applying zero tolerance policy against the elements who want to create the atmosphere of fear and disturbance in India.
While speaking to a group of media persons at Gandhinagar on the sideline of Raksha bandhan function hosted by him, Shri Modi said, “The incident of serial bomb blasts in Pune yesterday night is a matter of concerned for us.”
“Two things to notice are that the blasts occurred on the eve of Raksha bandhan and on a day when the nation got its new Home minister,” he further said.
“In a way, those involved in this act want to create the atmosphere of fear in India, and they want to create disturbance, and there’s a need for more alertness,” Shri Modi said.
“It is not about where it happened, it is not about its level of intensity or damage it caused, the serious issue is that these elements are giving message that their strength should not be denied,’ Shri Modi further said adding that “It is natural that people expect the government to demonstrate its strength and its presence by applying zero tolerance policy.”
