Gujarat High Court verdict that is not being followed by central government
Ahmedabad, 12 September 2012
The Gujarat High Cout has today issued notice to the central government in contempt of court case. Hearing on this will be held after 15 days.
Gujarat High Court had ordered to supply CNG to Ahmedabad on rate at par with Delhi and Mumbai. The order had to be implemented in one month period. But even after the prescribed period, the centre has not made any change in rate or quantity of gas.
Thus a contempt of court petition was filed, in response to which the High Court has now slapped notice to the centre.
It should be mentioned that Gujarat government has made it clear that if central government is ready supply gas at same rates effective in Mumbai and Delhi, there could be 30% cut in CNG prices in Gujarat.
