Gandhinagar, 13 January, 2013
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today called upon the US-based Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA) to take proactive leadership of the ‘Promote Gujarat Campaign’ abroad.
Interacting with a delegation of AAHOA at the venue of International Kite Festival on the Sabarmati Riverfront here, he said that Gujarat Government has established its identity in the world map, set many benchmarks and crossed many milestones during the last ten years. Impressed by the state’s development, a number of countries are now lining-up to partner Gujarat. It is not just a matter of pride for the Gujarati, settled anywhere in the world. It deserved to be taken far and wide. It cannot be delayed, either.
Mr. Modi said that Gujarat has made tremendous progress in hospitality management. Gujarat has a treasure trove of places of tourists’ interests which needs to be promoted abroad. He asked AAHOA to train karma-yogis for hotel management, start handicraft sales centres and promote tours from abroad to Gujarat.
Even as AAHOA has a membership of 21,000 hotels and 11,000 travel agents, he suggested each member could prompt at least 15 Non-Resident Indian (NRI) families to visit Gujarat.
Mr. Modi was speaking to the delegates congratulating on becoming the Chief Minister for the fourth term. He said that the Gujarati Diaspora has also its share in his victory.
