Six-seat by-elections: Congress declares names of candidates

Indian National Congress today announced the names of candidates for two Lok Sabha and four assembly by-elections in Gujarat.
Krishna Mukesh Gadhvi will contest north Gujarat’s Banaskantha Lok Sabha seat which fell vacant following the death of her husband, Congress MP Mukesh Gadhvi in March this year.
Vinubhai Amipura will contest from Porbandar Lok Sabha seat to fill the vacancy caused due to resignation of Congress MP Vitthal Radadia following his victory from Dhoraji assembly seat in December last year. Radadia and his son Jayesh later resigned as Congress MLAs to join BJP. His son was MLA from Jetpur constituency in Rajkot district.
For the state assembly bye-elections, the party decided to field Satishbhai Somabhai Patel in Limbi seat, Jagadishbhai Gandubhai Pambhai in Jetpur, Rajubhai Trikambhai Kotadia in Dhoraji.
Bhupendra Vecchatabhai Khant is the candidate from Morva Hadaf (ST) Assembly seat, where bye-election was necessitated as Congress candidate Savita Khant, who won, died on the day results were declared.
All six seats were captured by Congress candidates in previous election.
Krishna Gadhvi – wife of late Congress MP Mukesh Gadhvi who won Banaskantha Lok Sabha poll in year 2009, died this year in March.
Satish Patel – son of Somabhai Patel who won this seat last year, but resigned later to continue as Lok Sabha member.
Morwa Hadaf – son of late Congress MLA Savitaben Khant who won this seat last year, but died on result day.
Vinubhai Amipara – Leuva Patidar candidate for Porbandar Lok Sabha seat
Jagdish Pambhar – Leuva Patidar candidate for Jetpur seat
Raju Kotadia – Kadva Patidar candidate for Dhoraji seat
